Volunteering or Work Experience
We get regular requests for all sorts of voluntary work experience placements. These range from people undertaking awards such as the Duke of Edinburgh or Prince's Trust programmes, to those out out of work and seeking to improve their skills, or secondary school children or college students wanting to undertake one-off or longer term placements. Many of our volunteers have gone to paid employment elsewhere or used the experience to undertake further training afterwards.
Depending on our staff availability and the spaces available, we try and accommodate these requests but there is a waiting list and vetting process, especially during weekends and holiday periods.
Volunteers are expected to work in all areas of the farm, be reliable and turn up in all weathers. To support our running costs, insurances and ensure adequate supervision, there may be a charge depending on how long you wish to attend for and whether there are any specific needs. Adults with skills from trades or DIY for one off or regular maintenance are also welcome, but will be subject to satisfactory background and criminal record checks.
